Help Get 24 Students From the West Get to NatCon!

“I cannot thank the donors enough for continuing to support students who want to attend CMDA NatCon. I am passionate about connecting students to the senior members and resources that CMDA has; NatCon is a vital aspect of this. At this last convention, it was blatantly obvious that the Holy Spirit was moving and creating an electric atmosphere of prayer and worship. Over and over, I witnessed His outpouring and wisdom among the students and residents at the various sessions and hangouts –I know lifelong relationships were forged. So, once again, thank you for your donation and please know that the Lord took what you gave and multiplied it: what our students gained from attending the NatCon, they are now taking into their universities and workplaces. All for the glory of God.”

Why Help Students Get to NatCon?

The quotes say it best, but for students to see and be around so many Christian Healthcare Professionals is life changing for them. Knowing they are not alone despite often feeling that way in medical school is priceless.

They may have a great CMDA chapter on their campus, but even if they do, the impact of going to NatCon is monumentally more significant.

I left the convention emboldened to pursue greater fellowship and conversations about meaningful topics of discipleship and put that into practice with our local CMDA chapter, from regular intergenerational prayer to retreats and missions locally and internationally. Many thanks again for your gift.

Biggest highlight for me was getting back to my why. The first plenary talk was about how losing our why leads to losing our way. I had started losing my way.  However, at the conference, I was reminded and inspired to get back to my why not only by the plenary session but also the many people – physicians and fellow students I interacted with,  who were living their lives and serving based on their why.

[It was a] weekend full of new friends, ideas and renewed passions for ministry at Loma Linda University. From connecting with fellow students like Michelle Tan, who convened with us and Thomas Siff, who shared his personal journey with impactful mentorship and books, to praying with fellow women (such as Angelica Gonzalez) of varying ages and experiences during the Heart to Heart fellowship sessions and physicians (like Dr. David Kim) who shared meals and their hearts with all of us, this year’s CMDA National Convention was a period of inspiration and encouragement—to think deeply and with new lenses about the great God we serve. Particularly convicting was hearing Dr. Kristin Collier’s testimony, to step out in faith and stand for what’s right. Hearing from Dr. Jerome Adams offered new perspectives on the role of faith in overlapping fields of government and health. Finally, the panel with the lawyer and lobbyist was a refreshing perspective. Getting to carpool and talk with Christine Love, a law student, and Esther Elonga, an MD/PhD student, as well as staying with the generously hospitable Marosis was the cherry on top.
