It’s been two months since I last posted an update, and the title above may explain why. Over the last nine weeks, I have been on the road 44 days. I wish I could say that season is over, but I’ll actually be gone three out of the next five weeks.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
One of the biggest blessings was spending three weeks with my mom in Florida. The scary call, “Did you hear your mom broke her hip?” came in on my way to lunch with the InterVarsity Grad & Fellow regional director. Surgery on both her wrist and hip would follow the next two days, and I was able to get there just over a week after the hip surgery. Spending time with her, despite the circumstances, was good and healthy. I was grateful to have the flexibility to go and work from there.
After a week with her, there was an incredible trip to Colorado where God blew me away, witnessing students, professionals, and more serving in the name of Jesus through medicine! Groups of 20+ in homes up and down the front range, including a group of 70+ in Colorado Springs, was such a blessing. Dr. Bill Griffin shared about our curriculum, Faith Prescriptions, and the engagement with professionals was amazing!
Less than week after getting back from Florida, Sherry, Katey, and I headed to Oahu to meet with professionals & students (plus some amazing R & R time). What an amazing trip!
Southern California was next, where I was able to connect with students at UCSD, UCR, UCLA, USC Dental, Loma Linda, and a new school, Charles Drew University, an HBCU outside of LA.
What’s next? Madagascar … (but seriously). I leave for Madagascar later today for 2+ weeks to come alongside a friend I’ve been mentoring who is working alongside Mercy Ships and his own ministry, Equip Madagascar (equipmadagascar.org). I am beyond humbled! I will certainly share more about that when I get back. The hope is to generate a similar CMDA-type ministry there, in addition to help create and plan a medical missions conference.
The week after Thanksgiving finds me in Tennessee at our HQ for an annual retreat. When I get back from that, the 70 out of 100 is complete!
Thank you for supporting the hundreds-if not thousands-God is impacting through this ministry. I am honored, humbled, and carry the weight of the responsibility to train leaders, cultivate community, and pastor healthcare professionals and students throughout the west and around the world.
Grace, peace, and Happy Thanksgiving!
