I get an email like the following one probably weekly (the “[ ]” are the only changes in the email):
Good Afternoon,
I am a new intern that will be starting my pediatrics residency at [Residency] shortly. I recently graduated from [Med School] and while there, learned more about CMDA through the chapter leaders, who are also family friends. As I transition into residency and get settled in the [City] area, I am hoping to find out more about CMDA in the area to hopefully get connected with other christian healthcare professionals in the area.
Thank you!
All the best, [Person]
Help! If you are willing to welcome people like this young person into your area, will you let me know? I’m honest that it’s almost weekly I get these emails “out of the blue” (with the understanding that God is sovereign, of course.)
One of the core ministries of CMDA is local community chapters who meet together and have a network other Christian healthcare professionals to go to for support. Sometimes they do local and global missions together, other times they support students or residents. There are a plethora of ways they are involved and become invaluable for areas who have a chapter they can lean into for support to receive and give.
CMDA’s Board of Directors urged our Campus and Community Ministry team to enhance community chapters, both new and current ones, nationwide. The Regional Directors (Northeast, Midwest, South, West) were charged to set measurable goals to help achieve this. The first step: pray for new ones to develop.
These are those I’ve been praying to develop since January (alphabetically):
- Bay Area
- Billings
- Boise
- Denver
- Orange County
- San Diego
The current chapters we already have formed are:
- Albuquerque
- Colorado Springs
- Fresno
- Inland Pacific (WA)
- Phoenix
- Portland
- Redding
- Sacramento
- Ventura
- Yakima
Next chapters on the horizon:
- Cheyenne
- Honolulu
- Inland Empire
- Pasadena
- Reno
- St. George
- Vegas
